Notes for Visiting Chieu Cave
The admission fee for visiting Chieu Cave is 10,000 VND, and the parking fee for motorcycles is also 10,000 VND. The path with 1200 stone steps has some slippery sections that can be challenging, especially in rainy weather. Therefore, it’s advisable to wear shoes or sandals with good traction to avoid the risk of slipping.
The road leading to Chieu Cave from the center of Mai Chau town is quite narrow, making it a bit inconvenient for car travel. It’s more suitable to get here by motorbike or bicycle. If you’re coming from Ban Lac, you can hike up, which is just about 1km.
Those with weak physical stamina, elderly individuals, and young children should consider the climb as it’s relatively steep and time-consuming. Going downhill is less tiring but can be tough on the legs. The entire journey, including climbing up to the cave, exploring it, and descending, usually takes around 60-90 minutes, depending on individual fitness levels. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle to keep yourself hydrated.
